Senior Backend Engineer
NECTURE
NECTURE empowers businesses to unlock the full potential of fleets, seamlessly bridging the gap between mobility and energy. Combining human-driven information with data-driven intelligence, we provide tailored solutions that optimize operations, reduce costs, and achieve sustainability goals. NECTURE is building a world where electric fleets are not only possible, but thrive.
With a growing number of customers around the world, and exciting data-driven products that are developing continuously, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team.
As a Senior Backend Engineer at NECTURE, you will play a pivotal role in scaling our core platform. You’ll work closely with product, frontend, and data teams to build robust APIs, architect performant systems, and deliver backend infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and maintainable.
Tasks
In this role you will...
- Work across the core product, integrations, and platform architecture to make our backend stronger, faster, and easier to evolve.
- Help us stabilize and improve the parts of the system that are critical including modernizing legacy code.
- Partner with engineers and product managers to shape smart, pragmatic solutions to real problems.
- Write backend code in Node.js (Nest) and work with Postgres, PL/pgSQL, and other parts of our stack with care and curiosity.
- Untangle complexity, reduce hidden risks, and leave things better than you found them, whether it’s logic, tests, or docs
- Contribute to architecture and system design decisions, and support us in moving toward cleaner, more maintainable patterns.
- Be part of building a healthy engineering culture where sharing learnings, asking for help, and challenging ideas are all welcome.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend experience, ideally in environments where change is constant and architecture is evolving
- Solid hands-on experience with NestJS (or similar frameworks like Express), and confidence building APIs that are robust and maintainable
- Comfort working with PostgreSQL, designing schemas, writing queries, and tuning performance when needed
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar), and an understanding of what it means to build resilient backend systems
- Experience working in or around legacy codebases, you’ve debugged things you didn’t build, and know how to refactor without breaking trust
- Exposure to event-driven patterns or asynchronous systems, or the curiosity to learn them on the job
- An understanding of the challenges (and trade-offs) in monolith-to-microservices transitions
- A mindset geared toward code quality, testing, and observability, not perfection, but maintainability
- Experience owning parts of a larger system, even in the face of ambiguity or missing documentation
- Clear communication and a collaborative spirit, you share context, ask questions, and don’t wait for perfect clarity before taking action
- Bonus: You think about why something is being built, not just how, and you care about creating real-world impact through technology
We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply, even if you don’t meet every requirement listed. Your unique perspective matters to us!
